Former Manchester City head coach returns to first-team setup
Former Manchester City head coach Enzo Maresca has returned to the club as part of Pep Guardiola's first-team coaching staff.
Maresca, 44, was previously in charge of City's Elite Development Squad, which he led to the Premier League 2 title in 2020. He left the club in 2021 to become manager of Serie B side Venezia.
However, he was sacked by Venezia in March 2022 after a poor run of results. Maresca has since been working as a pundit for Sky Sports.
It is believed that Maresca has been brought back to City to help Guardiola with the club's pressing game. City have struggled to press effectively in recent months, and Guardiola is hoping that Maresca's expertise in this area can help to improve the team's performances.
Maresca is a highly-rated coach, and his return to City is seen as a major coup for the club. He is expected to play a key role in helping Guardiola to continue to challenge for major trophies.
